Meet Julia

“I have around four years of clinical experience and studied psychology for many more years, both formally and informally, which includes our emotions, thoughts, behaviours, our nervous system, our relationships to others, and the relationship to ourselves and how they are affected by both internal and external events.

It is both an honour and privilege to support others through life’s endeavors and challenges. In that, it is my objective to facilitate a safe space that allows for the exploration of a person’s inner landscapes, their struggles, their fear, and their pain. The therapeutic space can serve as a place of inquiry, curiosity, vulnerability, re-connection with ourselves or parts of ourselves, as well as our longings and our strengths. Therapy can play a potent role in supporting us to increase our awareness and understanding of ourselves, facilitate the integration of past trauma, and help open up opportunities to take action that promotes meaningful change in our lives.”

Therapeutic Approach

Julia is a warm, inclusive, and family-oriented psychologist who works in a person-centered and trauma-informed way. Her primary focus is on creating a safe space where problems and/ or symptoms can be explored sensitively at the client’s pace.

She works with:

  • children

  • adolescents

  • adults

  • individuals of advanced age

To Julia, therapy is a process of discovery, where based on this, interventions can focus on building skills, supporting the integration of past trauma and the strengthening of a person's sense of self, i.e. the relationship to oneself, others, as well as their unique way of being in the world.

In order to meet a client’s unique needs, she builds on their existing strengths and draws on a variety of therapeutic modalities from her training and work experience including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),

  • Attachment Theory based interventions,

  • Mindfulness and Meditation,

  • Level 1 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional: A training for the treatment of complex trauma which combines elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), elements of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Neurobiologically-informed psychological interventions,

  • Elements of Psychodynamic Therapy.
